Importance of Thank You Cards #giveaway

Why you should say ‘Thank you’

I’m a huge stickler  for Thank You Cards. It doesn’t take a lot to say thank you when someone does something nice for you and to let them know that their efforts have not gone unnoticed.  And quite frankly it’s just good manners!

Who doesn’t like getting a little thank you in the post.

Easier said than done!

This is something I would like to instill in my daughter from an early age, but it can be incredibly painful trying to get an early writer to do them without a lot of coercion and frustration.  It was her birthday last week and she received some lovely presents from her friends.  So, we needed to sit down and do some Thank You Cards.

Some people feel that Thank You Cards need to be handwritten, yes I do agree to some point, but I personally don’t mind if the thank you is in the form of an email, text message or commercially produced .  As long as people say ‘thank you’.  But for the love of god please do not send e-cards, I have a personal hatred of them. nothing worse than having to click on a link and waiting ages for it to load to see a dancing cat!

As always, I did a little cheat.  Using a photo that I took at the party, I had a little post card (pack of 10 was £6.99) created using PhotoBox and added some text on the back so all she needed to do was address them.  She also added some stickers to personalise them.  Another bonus is that the children who came to the party now have a little keepsake.

Camping in Style? Co-ordinated camping gear? #giveaway

Family Camping has never been so glamorous!

I absolutely adore camping and spent a lot of my childhood camping in Canada.  On occasion I’ve joked about being buried in my sleeping bag when I die.  Please don’t hold me to this.  However, we’ve done very little camping in the UK, I don’t know if this is down to weather, lack of camping gear or a misconception of UK campsites.  But, we have dipped our toe into Glamping and are rather partial to it.

Pubs with Campsites near Hastings

Pub with Campsites near HastingsWe have been on a couple of occasions as I managed to borrow the missing bits of gear (e.g tent and camp beds).  A few months back we went overnight camping in Boreham Street, East Sussex, near Hastings at the Bull’s Head.  The campsite was nothing more than an open field with a loo block (tent pitch £15 a night).

Nonetheless, the location was brilliant  close to many local beaches and backing onto  to a fabulous pub (stumbling distance) with an amazing menu, wine list and garden.  I had a perfectly cooked rib eye steak with a very nice glass of red wine or two.  The landlord was also very helpful when I needed to ring him at 6 am to get him to let my daughter out of the loos after locking herself in by accident.  Now that’s what I call child friendly.  I must also add that it is dog-friendly as well.

Stylish Melamine Camping DishesWe do hope to start doing more camping next year and I’m slowly starting to amass some gear.  We’re still in need of a tent but for the time being will continue to borrow, but I do now have a lovely set of Berrow Hill Melamine Dishes from Olpro that I can’t wait to try out camping.  They’re not only stylish and great for camping but perfect for picnics and BBQs.

Win a Sleeping Bag

Light Weight Sleeping Bag for Camping

The lovely folk at Olpro have offered my readers a chance to win one of their lightweight Witley Sleeping Bag with red on the inside.  It comes in its own stuff sack with draw string and if you have two you can zip them together to make a double.  I quite fancy getting the Berrow Hill one to match my new dishes.  Camping really is getting rather civilized.

Enter by simply using the rafflecopter form below.  The full terms and conditions are at the bottom of the form.  But, in short, it’s open to UK residents aged 18 +.  Competition closes on the 17th Sept 2013.

Good luck and happy camping.

Win a Wall Mural worth up to £500 from Photowall

Decorating Children’s Rooms and Nurseries using Murals

Like most first time mums, prior to my daughter being born nearly six years ago I set about decorating her room nursery.  I opted for a fairly simple colour scheme, with a neutral caramel colour on the walls, white units and cream carpets as I thought it would grow with her.  I didn’t want to do anything too babyish as she would grow out of it quickly.

However, it now looks rather tired and if I’m honest it’s a tad boring and doesn’t reflect her personality.  In addition, her room is tiny, so we’re currently planning on redecorating it.  To increase the floor space in the room we are opting for a high single bed and will paint the walls white to give the optical illusion that it’s bigger.

She also has a cast iron fire surround in her room.  I would really like to make that a feature wall.  While I was putting this competition together I fell in love with these three Children’s Patterned Murals from Photowall (Candy Fish, Lucky Ladybug and Secret Garden).  They’re not too girlie-pink, more sophisticated for a young lady and would be fun to accessorize.

Win a Bundle of Birthday Cards from Orchard Cards

Win a Bundle of Birthday CardsI don’t know how many 5 year old birthday cards I’ve bought this year.  My daughter has been to at least a dozen birthdays.  It made me think that card companies should offer bundles of age specific cards, as all the kids in the class will turn the same age at some point.  This would save me darting out to get one every time.  So, I contacted the lovely people at Orchard Cards to share my idea.

They didn’t have anything specific, but have offered my readers a chance to win a bundle of 10 birthday cards, for an age of the winner’s choice (ages 1-10).

Full terms and conditions can be found at the bottom of the form.  But in short, open to UK residents only aged 18+.

I think it would also be perfect for those of you in pre-natal groups!

Good luck!

Win tickets to Magic Summer Live Family Festival

Win tickets to family festival

Bryan Adams…….wow, that takes me back to the 80s, in Canada, when he shot to fame with ‘Straight from the Heart’.  I honestly had no idea he was still touring.  However, he’s headlining Magic Summer Live (13th/14th July 2013), a two-day family festival in the Heart of Surrey at Stoke Park in Guildford, alongside the likes of Jamiroquai, James Morrison and Joss Stone.  A full line up can be found here.

Fancy winning a two-day family ticket (2 Adults, 2 Children) to the event?  Enter by simply using the rafflecopter form below.  Full Terms and Conditions are at the bottom of the form.

I have mixed feelings about seeing him, will it make me feel young again or even older?

Good luck!
