My Twitter Journey

The other day I was doing some laundry and I don’t know why, but when I glanced at our rather large basket of unmatched socks it made me think of twitter!

When I first started twitter I felt like a lonely sock on the clothes line, blowing in the wind, talking to myself.

In time, I started to collect some other odd socks but sometimes I couldn’t see the connection.

After awhile I started to make quite a few matches, with the odd sock still hanging around.

Along the way I’ve had to throw out a few socks as they had holes in them and some I’ll never find a match to, but I have kept quite a few odd socks as they make it more interesting.

Is this similar to your experience with Twitter?  Please do leave a comment.

Thanks to the lovely Susan (@CocaBeenSlinky), a very good twitter mate who is always laughing, for the illustrations. They’re fab aren’t they? She doesn’t advertise herself as an artist, but I’m sure, if you’re like me and blog but can’t draw and struggle to find copyright free images, she may knock you some up for a small fee! I’m paying her in wine.

Refuelling Tip

Have you ever pulled up at the pump to refuel and then realise the tank is on the other side?  Or is it just me?

Look what I found….

Genius!

I bet you’re shaking your head but do remember that this comes from a woman, who has been in the UK for 12 years but still, usually when it’s dark, jumps into the passenger seat by mistake to find the steering wheel is missing!

Iphone App – GPS Wakeup

Have you ever stayed after work in London for a few drinks and ended up falling asleep on the train and missing your stop?  My husband has a couple of times in the last 6 months and ended up at the end of the line in Bedford, resulting in a very expensive taxi ride home at 4am.

I haven’t tried this app myself yet, but I absolutely love the idea of it.  GPS Alarm (free from iTunes) lets you set an alarm based on your location and will go off when you get close.  The only other solution is to stick a post it note on your forehead with your stop written on it, like this slightly inebriated woman did!

Stairway to Hell!

I’m fairly confident we’re not the only family that does this; whilst tidying up downstairs we use the stairs as a dumping ground for everything in hope that someone will pick it up next time they’re passing and put them away. Who am I kidding?

In reality, we all walk by it without a sideways glance on an average of 10 times a day.  The only time it gets taken upstairs is when I’m running around like a loon on Wednesday mornings, tidying before the cleaner arrives and 9 times out of 10 it then just gets deposited on our bed. Yes, I do this every week and I know it’s ridiculous.  I wouldn’t want her to think we are pigs!

However, a couple of days ago, I was walking down the stairs carrying Madame and didn’t spot the underlying danger.  I slipped on one of the items and fell down the last 5 stairs.  Luckily, I landed on my ass so no one was hurt.  Once the initial shock passed we did have a right good giggle.

Can you spot the culprit?  It looks sweet and innocent but is a death trap in disguise!
