Weekly Meal Plan - 22 April 2013

I’m stuck in this limbo between Winter and Spring.  I know it’s supposed to be Spring but I kept finding myself still choosing winter comfort food when planning my meals this week; Two Bean Chilli, Sausage and Puy Lentils and Spaghetti Bolognaise.

I’ve never made the Salt Cod before and in truth I’m using up a selection of white fish from the freezer so it may not actually be cod.

I’m reviewing the spices, hence the Spicy Chicken and Rice recipe, but I’m not convinced about Chicken and Cinnamon and not sure how it will work.

I’m out at my networking group, An Afternoon in the Pub on Friday, so I will pop Spag Bol in the Slow Cooker for Hubby and Madame as it’s their favourite.

As always, these are all Slow Cooker Recipes and if I have any joy, you will find them on my other blog, slowcookerqueen.com.

Have a great week.

Meal Planning Inspiration for the Family

Week two of school holidays!  I’m on my knees but have ordered in a case of wine so I should survive.  As always, the majority of our meals this week will be done in a slow cooker.  Well, actually they all will be.

On Mondays we do #meatfree, but no chance I will convince our 5 year old to eat a veggie curry so I’ve opted for Lasagna which hopefully she will eat.  Fingers firmly crossed.  I will leave you guys to debate my spelling of Lasagna and for the record that is an ‘e’ in Kedgeree and not an ‘a’.

The second new recipe we are trying is the Paprikash – she loves pork, mushrooms and sour cream so hedging my bet on this one.

We will also be having a few tried and tested favorites.  The links to the recipes are below.

If anyone is looking for me this week, I will be hiding at the bottom of a bottle of red!  :-)

Have a great week!

Meal Planning Monday – 18 March 2013

I like to plan my weekly meals as it saves me time, money and stress.

Meal Planning Monday

It’s a rather ‘normal’ week around here and the majority of meals will be slow cooked.  I have to do an airport run tonight but forgot hubby is in London so I have to bundle the little one up and take her with me.  Hopefully, our Thai Curry isn’t overcooked and turned to mush when we get home.

I’m out Tuesday night in London for an SEO event, however, I’m not feeling that enamoured as I overdid it a bit last night and I will need to sort out some childcare so we will see.

We’re trying to eat a bit more fish so you will see that we are having it on Wednesday and on Friday.  Fingers crossed Madame likes the Risotto, but I do know she loves prawns.

Have a great week everyone.

Meal Planning Monday: Irish Stew, Steak and a few others

Who said it was spring!  Our poor daffodils that came up on the weekend have gone into shock.  I just went to Morrison’s for my weekly shop and was hit by a freak blizzard!

Meal Planning Monday

Anyhow, other than the weather it’s a pretty normal week around here.  Now that hubby is working from home I’m putting him to work in the kitchen and he is cooking on Tuesday.  His signature dish is Gordon Ramsay style Steak and Chips.

Other than that the rest of the week will be slow cooked as always.  On Wednesday, we’re having an Irish Stew and Soda Bread in anticipation of St Patrick’s day on the weekend.

Have a great week everyone!

Introducing My New Slow Cooker Blog

I finally decided to take the plunge and start a new blog just for my slow cooker recipes. I was very conscious that I may be confusing my readers.

Those who subscribed just for recipes may not be interested in my parenting antics and those who were coming to laugh at my parenting ability (or lack of) and didn’t have a slow cooker, may not be interested in all the recipes.

Don’t worry if you have any of my old recipes bookmarked as they will stay put, but any new recipes will be posted on Slow Cooker Queen. So, feel free to pop over and subscribe to the new blog. I’d love to hear any of you feedback both positive and negative.

Slow Cooker Recipe Blog

As for the name, Slow Cooker Queen, I genuinely don’t believe I’m royalty but on a few occasions I’ve been called this on Twitter so it seemed fitting and I’m always tickled when people do say it.

Thanks again for all your support and I do hope to see a few of you over there.

Cheers,  Chrissie
